Mallard Island Yacht Club
For Our Guests
Getting There
We think that the Long Beach Island, NJ, area is a wonderful place to get married and we hope you’ll enjoy your stay. Here’s a link to what’s happening on the island: www.longbeachisland.com
If you’re driving, you’ll be taking Exit 163 off the Garden State Parkway and getting onto Route 72 heading east towards the Atlantic Ocean. The Mallard Island Yacht Club, 1450 East Bay Avenue, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 is actually located right on Route 72 West. You can see it on the left hand side as you approach- it has a red roof. This is where we’re getting married (in the little chapel on the water) and where our reception will be held in this gorgeous house on the bay. It’s beautiful. We like it and hope you will too.
If you are flying, Newark’s Liberty International Airport is about 2 hours north of Long Beach Island and the Atlantic City Airport is about an hour south.
Accommodations
We had blocked rooms at The Holiday Inn, 151 Route 72 East, Manahawkin, NJ, 08050, Phone: 609-481-6100, www.himanahawkin.com
for a reduced rate of $159 per night and we apologize to anyone who had to reserve at a higher rate. The first block went in a whirlwind and because of high demand, the room prices went right up. The hotel is new, really nice and has an indoor pool, restaurant, and bar. It is located just a short distance (less than a mile) from Mallard Island Yacht Club, which is on the west side of Route 72. The hotel has also offered to run shuttle buses to and from Mallard for our guests on the big day.
Unfortunately, the hotel reserved rooms for 4 additional weddings the same weekend! And every room is taken, as of March 17. You can check back later to see if there are any cancellations but our recommendation is that you go to the list of places to stay at the end of the blog and call right away. We've heard that a number of guests are booking Drifting Sands on the beach but we recommend that you opt for oceanfront rooms there. The back of the motel, which is very basic, overlooks a parking lot and nearby CVS. But heh, it's right on the Atlantic Ocean and the lobby and staff seem nice.
We've also been told that Daddy O Hotel, 4401 Long Beach Boulevard, Brant Beach, Long Beach Island, NJ, 08008, 609-361-5100, is booked solid.

If you are interested in making our wedding a vacation destination and renting a house or condo, we’ve been working with a wonderful realtor, Beverly Karch, Oceanside Realty, 609-709-9202, beverlykarch@comcast.net, http://www.lbibev.com/. She has staked out some properties for us but let her know as soon as possible because the weekend of our wedding is also Chowderfest on Long Beach Island. Lots of visitors arrive to sample the clam chowder making it a busy time of year, though it’s technically off season after Labor Day. Keep in mind that many owners rent from Saturday to Saturday and sometimes renting just for a weekend takes extra negotiation on Beverly's part.
Check this blog for more updates as the time gets closer and party plans take shape! And contact us if you need more information: maggie.brinley@yahoo.com, lizardk27@gmail.com or mabrinley@verizon.net. In fact, Debbie Carr, Chris's mom, wrote a little jingle for us:
Maybe you could call or email, just so you can say
If you will be attending or not, to help us plan the day!

Update on Accommodations!
Because both The Holiday Inn and Daddy O's are full, here are suggestions pulled from the internet, our own experience, and Trip Advisor, the online website which rates places to stay. All these can be found on the web and we suggest that you check them out right away. Because it's a busy weekend, they may require two-night minimum stays but that just means you'll be able to party longer. And the Brinley family will be hosting friends and family in Surf City at 37 West 21st Street, just off the beach. We'll be at the house from Thursday to Monday of the wedding weekend.
Drifting Sands Oceanfront Motel, Ship Bottom, NJ, 609-494-1123: This is your basic motel but if you go for the oceanfront rooms, the view could make your weekend fun. The sand is right off your front deck. The lobby was nice when we looked at it but the back rooms off the parking lot aren't wonderful. Drifting Sands is really convenient, however, and is at the end of Route 72, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Very nice front views!
Surf City Hotel, Surf City, 1-800-353-3342 (Rooms as well as a cottage available for rent. This is not far from our rental house.)

Spray Beach Inn, Spray Beach, 609-492-1501
North Shore Inn, Barnegat Light, 609-494-5001
White Whale Motel, Barnegat Light, 609-494-3020 (looks verrrrry down-to-earth, ahem, and basic)
Buccaneer Motel, Spray Beach, 609-492-4582
Coral Seas Oceanfront, Beach Haven, 609-492-1141
Island Guest House Bed and Breakfast Inn, Beach Haven, 1-877-LBI-STAY (609-709-5791)
The Magnolia House, Beach Haven, 609-492-2226
Victoria's Guest House, Beach Haven, 609-492-4151, info@lbivictoria.com
Engleside Inn, Beach Haven, 609-492-1251
Windward at the Beach, Beach Haven, 609-492-4468 (guests seem to love this place)
Williams Cottage Inn, Beach Haven, 609-492-7272
Keep us posted or call Maryann (973-746-1608, home, 973-202-5909, cell) or Maggie at 973-865-8097, if you have any questions or problems. But don't wait too long to find a place to stay for our Brinley - Carr wedding.
The Registry
Chris and I are so excited to tell you that we are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and Amazon.com!!
Our registry number for Bed, Bath & Beyond is 5763430 or you can just find us by using our names. For Crate & Barrel our number is 4713195.
Also, we're putting together a registry through our travel agency, Anderson Travel in Babylon, NY. We found a great spot, El Dorado in Riveria Maya, Mexico for our honeymoon and the travel agency is putting together gift certificates and a registry for us! It's still in the works, we'll keep you posted.
Please note that we also love West Elm, Pier One, and HomeGoods for outfitting our apartment! Funny, West Elm and Pier One don't have bridal registries - so we gladly accept gift cards! Hahaha. Actually, we'll take anything...we're just happy you are joining us in our wedding celebration.
Lastly, Chris & I would love to add one specific item to our "registry." A down comforter! My parents bought us a terrific duvet for our queen bed in our new apartment but we don't have a comforter to put in it! If anyone would like to get us a gift certificate or go in with a couple other guests- we'd love this classic down comforter from Pacific Coast Feather Company: https://www.pacificcoast.com/comforters/all-comforters/classic-comforter
